And please understand that, since I'm not really in practice of designing these times, I'm hard to reach, meaning that it may take me two months to log-in and see all your messages. I sincerely apologize ! everytime I log in and see all the new unread messages I think that "I'll try to log in at least once a week" but I'm so busy that I eventually forget ... most of the time.
BIO :
Hey, I'm Alex, 24yo !
I'm Half-French, a quarter Spanish and a quarter Vietnamese. Born in France but grown in the Netherlands. My native language is not english, so please be kind about my grammar and syntaxes !
I'm actually living in France, Paris 13th arrondissement, where I just picked up web-development and web-design after I first signed up last year for finances, which I eventually dropped when I found out my new school, ECV Digital.
In early 2012, I luckily fell upon a teaser of what was at this time a brand new theme for iOS devices, full of superb, meticulously wondrous hand-crafted icons : The Jaku Theme by
William Szilveszter.
"
Jaku is Japanese for "tranquility." Like the name, its underlying design philosophy is to bring refined and subtle changes to Apple's iOS" - William Szilveszter on his
blog.
Amazed by the quality and realism of these icons, I signed up to the forum thread on modmyi.com, and soon got involved in the making of third party app icons on purpose of providing more "amateurish Jaku style" icons ; because William will never have the time in a single life to work on every apps' icons. Yet, his work was, is and remains a deep source of inspiration which quickly led me to overwork my icons artwork in attempts to reach a closer level to William's perfection.
To these days, 230+ icons are included in the official theme and designed by the author only, and thousands of free third party free apps' icons designed by amateurs such as me are available, and carefully archived by names, dates and popularity on an online repository named "
Jaku's Icon Community Repository" ; which has been designed, coded and managed by
bblake, certainly one of the biggest contributor and somehow Guru#2 of this beautiful theme after William himself.
However, Jaku wasn't my first experience on Photoshop. In my early childhood a load of graphical designers started emerging. And facing this rise of awesomeness, the little 10 yo me installed a cracked PS software and read all available tutorials related to webdesign on the internet at that time. But high school's life exceeded my passion for design and only left me time for my other passion : Music.
Jaku lit that little spark within myself which brought back to me the love of design and graphical conception.
I like challenges. I like to create and to design from scratch as it is the pride of all my work. This is why every single pixel you will see on this deviant's gallery is made from scratch by myself.
Hope you enjoy your tour ! Feel free to comment or suggest !
I work with Photoshop CS4/5 and recently PS CS6 along with my laptop's touchpad. What I can do with Photoshop, its tools, base effects and filters goes way further my hand drawing abilities ;).
